Daffy aka Fiona

Daffy joined our family after we lost another girl doxie, Jelly. Daffy joined Ducky whom we had adopted in 2005 from DROH. Daffy was a big beautiful hound dog that loved to eat, hated squirrels, loved to snuggle and loved us. She was a big old goofy girl that stole our hearts. This very funny girl indeed enriched our lives with her sweet heart, many kisses, and affectionate way. We loved our girl so much and want to thank DROH for allowing us to adopt her to make our family complete.

Our hearts are hurting as she runs the Rainbow Bridge.

Dave Gru

Dexter

RIP Dexter. Adopted Sep 2010 After a hard few years on the streets of Houston in September 2010 Dexter joined the Quayle family thanks to DRoH and their amazing group of volunteers.

Dexter loved to eat, sleep in the sun, drink coffee, protect children and to boss two generations of English bulldogs around. He never really wanted to walk far or play with toys but loved being within touching distance of his family. We will all miss the quiet prod of the nose as he checked you were still there or if you were a little slow with the treats. He liked to ride in the car and quickly learnt to operate the electric car window to allow him to put his head out. He had learnt to sing (thanks Rachel!) and would regularly join in if his songs came on the radio. ‘I will always love you’ being a particular favourite. Dexter remained laid back whatever life threw at him, whether it was a DRoH foster dog walking in the door, a 4th of July firework display or one of the regular flights he made across the Atlantic, nothing upset him.

Dexter relocated full time to the UK in 2016 where he settled happily into city life and grew to ‘love’ the arrival of delivery people. Not so sure they loved him as much though the regulars quickly learnt his loud bark disguised a heart as soft as putty.

Today he ate his dinner, had a quiet walk and for once the sun shone on him as he lay in the grass. He came home, gave a last bark at the neighbours and lay down to sleep in his favourite spot. Sadly he never woke up but passed on peacefully. You will be sadly missed Dexter, the house is already strangely quiet without you.

Doug Palmer aka Ollie

Ollie was my dog.  He followed me everywhere, and he slept with his rear end touching me.
We were always together when in the house. He would be next to me. If I got up, he followed.
I loved this Dog with all I got, and it took me 4 days before I could even tell anyone about his passing, as I would break up.

My heart is absolutely broken as is my Wife's. He was such a good boy.

RIP sweet loyal Ollie
